The Lakerbots are moving to a new home. Our new home on the Internet is going to be Lakerbots5085.com Please follow us there for the 2015-2016 FRC Season
The weekend of March 26-28th the Lakerbots took B.O.B. Murphy out and put him on the field in the Philomath FRC event. It was a great weekend for us. We made a few modifications to the robot and added some hooks on the end of our arms so that we could grab the Recycling Containers much easier. B.O.B. had no technical issues and we were able to perform very well in all of our matches. We finished the qualification matches ranked 15th. We were drafted as the second pick of the #6 Alliance. Our Alliancemates were Team 190 (Gompei and the H.E.R.D.) from Massachusets and Team 997 (Spartan Robotics) from Corvallis. We were very grateful to be drafted by them and we made a great team. We made it all the way to the SemiFinals and finished with the 3rd best point average, which improved on our 4th from the previous weekend in Ellensburg. We were deeply humbled to be awarded the "Quality Award Sponsored by Motorola" that recognized a robot that is robust in both concept and fabrication. We our two tournaments and knew it was going to be a close call for us making it to the Pacific NorthWest Championship. We finished 68th in District Points. The Championship takes the top 64 teams and there were 3 teams ranked below us that were automatic qualifiers due to winning various awards in their competitions. We needed 7 teams to drop out of the competition in order to be invited but it did not happen and our season has come to an end. Below is a video teaser that shows walking through the pits and into the stands in Philomath and then there is a playlist of all our matches.
This past weekend the Lakerbots took our robot "B.O.B. Murphy" up to Ellensburg, Washington to compete in the FRC event being held at Central Washington University. The Lakerbots had a rough day one but bounced back on day two and finished 4th in the elimination tournament with the help of our Alliance Partners Team 3238 and 2944. Below is a playlist of all of our matches from both days as well as the Alliance Selection. February 11, 2015
Our robot is almost done and ready for competition. Tomorrow we hope to be moving garbage cans and totes. We think we have the code working and we will test it out tomorrow. Today we worked on the carriage for the robot, it is almost done. We still have to build the arms and run the circuits for them. We hope to reveal our robot video tomorrow. Chris The LakerBots were chosen by F.I.R.S.T. and the folks from Cubify 3D Printers to receive an EkoCycle 3D printer this year. We plan on using the printer for booth giveaways, marketing materials and parts for the robot. On Saturday the 31st of January we tried printing some promotional material. This is a video of that printing run. On January 3rd we visited Oregon State University to attend the Kickoff Ceremonies. Every team member and adviser was anxious to learn this year's task and game. After much tomfoolery and tense anticipation, the game was finally revealed in a world-wide webcast. This year's game is... drum roll please...RECYCLE RUSH! The Portland tournament went well and everyone had a blast. Unfortunately, our season is over. But we did end up being ranked 53 out of the 153 teams in Oregon and Washington- a pretty nice feat for a rookie team if I do say so myself.
